Fruit that Remains!

You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you. (John 15:16, AMP)

Most of you, like me, would describe your life as full.

Our lives are full of this and full of that.

Full of coming and full of going.

Full of seeking and full of striving.

Full of committing and full of conquering.

In all of the fullness, one question remains.

Are we bearing fruit?

Not just any fruit, but “fruit that will remain”.

When I consider “fruit that will remain”, I ponder efforts that have resulted in duplication.

For instance, God placed various people in my life over the years who poured their hearts, wisdom, love, and various gifting for the the purpose of yielding fruits of righteousness in my life. Likewise, I consider those who God has allowed me to impact in some way over the years and the domino effect that their lives have had on others. Fruit that duplicates, fruit that yields righteous results, is fruit that is lasting.

Funny, fruit that remains does not cause me to consider my bank accounts, investments, accolades or any achievements outside of those which have had some kind of impact for the Kingdom of God.

Fruit that remains causes me to recall emails from  individuals who attended bible studies I’ve been honored to teach, describing the impact God’s Word has had on their lives and the lives of their families.

Fruit that remains humbles me to seek the will of God and His purpose for my life more and more so I am in fact firmly nestled in appointed and purposeful place God has chosen me to bear fruit as His representative.

In John 4:34-38, Jesus provides insight to what fruit that remains consists of.

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to completely finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘It is still four months until the harvest comes?’ Look, I say to you, raise your eyes and look at the fields and see, they are white for harvest. 36 Already the reaper is receiving his wages and he is gathering fruit for eternal life; so that he who plants and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this case the saying is true, ‘One [person] sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap [a crop] for which you have not worked. Others have worked and you have been privileged to reap the results of their work.”

In some cases, the “fruit that remains” in our lives is a result of the labor others have poured the foundation for. In other cases, we are laying the foundation for recipients who will follow.

Whatever the case, we must see our current endeavors and acts in view of eternity. The eternal purpose and the eternal harvest.

My prayer for 2017 is that I focus on “fruit that will remain”. My prayer is that my daily efforts will bear fruit that will remain will all is said and done. I pray that my conversations and my daily interactions will be steeped in fruit that will have a lasting impact on the recipients.

Instead of making New Year Resolutions, seek the Father about bearing fruit that will remain for eternity. Fruit that will outlast the next 362 remaining days of this year.

As we examine our own lives, not in comparison with others, in view of fruit that will remain. I’m confident that our loving Father will reveal His chosen and appointed places and purposes handpicked for our individual lives. In those appointed and chosen places, may we will stand firmly as His representatives on a well lighted path that will draw others to their own paths hidden in Him. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19)

5 months and 10 days.

The time frame between this post and my last post submitted on July 12, 2016.

What does it mean to be revived?

Restore to life or consciousness; to give new strength or energy to.

What a powerful definition. When something is revived it does not return to its former state; rather, it is endowed with new strength, new power, and new energy not necessarily originating from its former state.

My favorite characteristic of the word revive is the list of synonyms.

  1. reinvigorate
  2. revitalize
  3. refresh
  4. energize
  5. reanimate
  6. resuscitate
  7. rejuvenate
  8. enliven
  9. stimulate
  10. revivify

I don’t know about you, but something in me is  being revived by simply typing the list of synonyms.

5 months and 12 days of sulking, procrastinating, and waiting.

That equals roughly 162 days of my life that I can never get back.

I entered this year with high hopes and dreams of accomplishing goals buried deep in my heart, but distraction, disillusionment, and at times despair stopped me in my tracks.

This morning I could hear the Holy Spirit telling me to just start writing. Do not wait to set another goal, do not wait for the perfect time, and definitely do not wait until the dawning of the new year. Just make a decision to start writing today and do it!

Today, I cannot offer grand words to explain the how’s and why’s of disappointments and seemingly unclear cluttered pathways of  your destined purpose. Nor can I offer explanations for the how’s and why’s of fading passions and  seemingly fleeting pursuits. However, I can offer you a word of life that brought me back to my laptop around my kitchen table, “start today, just do it”.

I was once told by a woman of God whom I sought prayer and direction from that God would lead me as I went. Seventeen years later those words still echo truth. God leads as we go. As long as we remain at a standstill, for whatever reason, His leading and direction is also still. As soon as we make the choice to go, do, start, begin again,  He also moves, directs, guides, and revives our choice.

I’ve heard it over and over and over again, “You are not waiting on God, God is waiting on you!”.

Today, be endowed with a new energy, a new strength, a new consciousness that will propel you into the new year with  vision and purposeful action that will be the life breath (fuel) for the vision God has placed in your heart. Revival will not return you to your former state, but to a state never before seen.

Behold, He is doing a new thing in you today! Do you not perceive it?

Allow His revival to take place in your life by taking the action step I believe the Holy Spirit has already spoken to your heart.

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. (1 Peter 2:9)

Called According to His Purpose,





Called According to His Purpose

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.  For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. (Romans 8:28-30, NLT)

Yesterday, I arose very early and decided to spend the quiet moments of dawn with the Lord. If I can be completely transparent, I have not had such quality time with HIM for about a month. My three children are out of school for summer break and I have been pulled in more directions than I can count.

Needless to say, yesterday I desperately needed some encouragement, strength, and a little TLC. It’s amazing to me how the Lord meets us as if no time has passed since we’ve last sat at His feet for the tender loving care and renewal that only quality time spent in His presence can provide.

I pray that this post will encourage you as much as it has encouraged me.

You are on the right track, you are exactly where you are suppose to be at this moment in time. God has  chosen you for the tasks that lay before you. Tasks that may seem cumbersome and overwhelming at first sight. It’s time for you to choose yourself, take some time to sit at the feet of the one who has chosen you and called you according to HIS PURPOSE!

Receive this word as encouragement, renewal, and motivation to move forward when your mind tells you to shrink back.

God is mindful of you, He knows exactly what He placed in you and exactly what He requires of you. Yes, you heard it right the first time when He gently requested a certain act from you. And yes, you heard it right the last time when He thundered the same request so loud that you couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks, months, or even years later.

The question is why have you not responded?

What are you afraid of?

When God calls us, He empowers us, enables us, and embodies us by His Holy Spirit to do and say what’s required in order to fulfill the calling, task, or purposeful act He requires of us. Just as the Lord commanded Gideon to, “go in the strength you have” because “I am sending you” (Judges 6:14). He is also calling each of us to start, go, or finish with the strength we have. Only when we take a step in our current state will we begin to receive the strength that action by the Spirit of Faith produces.

Let’s take a look at Judges chapter 6 more closely to see if you can identify with Gideon.

Judges 6:11-16 (NLT)

Then the angel of the Lord came and sat beneath the great tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites.

The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” 

“Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?

And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about?

Didn’t they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.” 

Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!”

“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” 

The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.”

Notice that the angel did not call Gideon as he currently was, but as God had purposed when the angel announced, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!”

I echo that announcement to you today, “Mighty___________________, the Lord is with you!”

Gideon immediately began to look at his circumstances and wallow in a self-induced pity party. I must admit that I’ve been here more often than I would like to admit.

Instead of heeding what God has said concerning who we are, we look at what our circumstances say and align our thoughts, words, emotions, and actions with the circumstances instead of the calling, justification, and glory God Almighty has placed upon our lives.

The Lord immediately responds with instructions to “go in the strength you have” because “I am sending you”.

The government is not sending you, your pastor is not sending you, your family is not sending you, you are not even sending yourself.

The Lord God of the Angel Armies is SENDING YOU, according to His PURPOSE!

When the Lord sends us, He is with us, His Spirit empowers us, enables us, and embodies us . The  limitations you have within our own abilities  will be fleeting as we adjust our minds to align ourselves with His limitless power.

Final thoughts, you are and I am called according to HIS Purpose.

The only way we will move forward with our chosen calling is to shift our efforts to depend on the Spirit of God, walk according to the empowerment only His Spirit provides, and make a commitment to remain there.

As we remain under the covering of God’s calling we will begin to do and say things effortlessly because it is by the limitless Spirit of the Living God in which we go “in the strength we have”. As we go, we go with the backing of the promise that the Lord is with us and in us to accomplish in accordance with His Purpose our Mighty calling.



Wisdom Wednesday: Guard Your Heart

Hey Y’all!

The Texas in me insists on coming out no matter how hard I try to convert.

Today’s Wisdom Wednesday is simple, yet powerful.

As you read the small passage and commentary, I pray that you will reflect upon the personal issues of life you may be facing today. Even as I type this post, I am searching my own heart to identify what I’ve allowed to creep in to steal the Joy of the Word of God.

If you find yourself fearful today, identify what is in your heart.

If you find yourself bitter, identify what is in your heart.

If you find yourself angry, identify what is in your heart.

Whatever the issue may be, outward circumstances and other people are not the TRUE source of your problem. Identify the tears in your heart and allow God to minister His overwhelming love so your heart may be mended and your perspective may be aligned with the triumphant victory He has given you in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (NIV)

The heart is medically known as  the center of life for your physical body; however,  it is also referred to as the center of life for your soul (mind, will, emotions, imagination and intellect).

Guarding your heart consists of guarding what you allow to come through the gates of your soul, which are your eyes and ears.

What comes into your eye gates and ear gates enters your heart, forms your thoughts, and eventually comes out through your mouth and actions.

Luke 6:45 tells us, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. What’s in your heart will eventually come out (Mark 7:21-23).

Keep your heart pure with the Word of God and everything you do will draw from the wisdom you have received from the Word.


Wisdom Wednesday: Safety in Wisdom

My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared. (Proverbs 3: 21-26 NIV)

I bet you had no idea that wisdom is also a safety measure that guards your life, causes you to sleep well, and keeps you from going doing a path that will ultimately entangle or snare your feet.

The Bible is so full of protective measures that we must Selah, pause and think about them.

Wisdom allows us the ability to truly grasp all the good things that God has amassed for those who put their trust in Him.

In the era we are living in, danger lurks at every corner. However, we don’t have to fall prey to the danger nor the fear that ultimately invites the danger into our lives.

How is this accomplished?

Through understanding sound judgment, and discretion. Yes, these are all products of wisdom.

When we keep our internal and external eye on wisdom then we are preserved from the pitfalls and stumbling blocks that create fear, guilt, and a sin consciousness that causes us to be filled with regret and shame. If you’ve ever dealt with these emotions you know that they can keep you awake at night, play tricks with your mind, and cause you to make wrong choices that lead to unsafe territory on many different levels.

Keeping your eye on wisdom creates an undisturbed composure within your mind that allows you to rest in God, His ability to guard you, His ability to protect you and keep you safe from the exploits of this world. Your feet will literally be guarded from danger. Additionally, your life will be preserved from the traps of ruin and danger discovered by those who make the choice to follow their own way in lieu of the way of wisdom.
